Streamyx 2640B modem, How to get it to work ?

$

First of all, many thanks for the pointers that you have generiously shared with me

I am trying to get the branch office's streamyx DSL modem to work

I have read through the instructions from many other threads and set up the modem.

Now, I can access the modem from a PC, via LAN, and the following lights on the modem are green colour -

* Power Light
* LAN Light
* DSL Light
* Internet Light

None of them flashes, they just stay solid green

Does that mean the modem is working?

For some reasons, I still can't access the Net from a PC which connects to the modem

Enclose please find the info I copied from the modem, if you see anything that is wrong below, please tell me what is wrong and how to change it

Thank you !

Sorry for asking, as I am not very familiar with lowyat.net

I need help on setting up a modem, because there is some setting within that modem that I do not know how to solve

I posted a thread at http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2734526

May I know if there is a more suitable forum for that thread ? What I mean is, is there a place where I can post a thread like http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2734526 where I can get more help ?

I do appreciate each and every help that I have got so far, and I am very grateful for their help. It's just that I need to solve this modem thing or the PC just can't connect to the Internet

Let me thank you in advance for any help that you might share with me. Thank you !

Setup Unfi with extra VPN Router,

Hi guys, just want to ask some technical support. Currently my client's side is having Unifi 20mbps Dynamic IP. TM provided them Huawei echolife850a and d-link DIR615. They requested their D-link to be change to VPN Router because they want their stuffs to remote back to office to update office works.

Ok. I know D-link router is using VLAN tagging and is impossible to use other custom router to replace because mostly custom router doesn't have VLAN tagging features. If i can get normal VPN router, how do i intergrate with my existing D-link router? I got experienced in setting in Static IP by pointing ISP Gateway to custom router. That's work fine.

For dynamic IP, is it some sort of NAT or routing need to be configure? Thanks for all the advise smile.gif

Beware of limitation of TP-LINK 1-for-1 Exchange,

$

Some TP-LINK products sold in Malaysia come with 1-for-1 exchange during the warranty period. For example, the TL-PA211 Powerline Adapter comes with 2 Year warranty with 1-for-1 exchange (see attached).

There is no visible fine print on the label or packaging indicated that the 1-for-1 exchange is valid only at the TP-LINK service centre in KL. In an email response following my enquiry TP-LINK indicated that the 1-for-1 exchange is not applicable in any other locations in Malaysia, except in the KL Service Centre. Just as frustratingly, I could not find any document containing terms and conditions of the warranty.

Today, many products sport similar features and capability. Consumers often make their purchase decision based on additional product differentiators. The promise of 1-for-1 exchange could be one differentiator that influence buyers' purchase decision from one brand to the other. TP-LINK's advertising of 1-for-1 exchange without furnishing the limitation of the policy constitutes misleading marketing propaganda. Under the Malaysia Consumer Protection Act 1999 (CPA), suppliers and manufacturers are prohibited to use misleading and deceptive conduct, false misrepresentation and unfair claims in selling products and services. In that respect, TP-LINK might have breached the CPA.

BE WARNED.

WTA : How much quota is enough for these usage?,

$

Hello guys, nice to meet you there.
So, I'm curious around how much of quota do I need for my monthly usage on various thing.

Usually,
Web surfing = 1 to 10 pages per day
IM = Around half an hour or less on Line apps daily (Just text and stickers)
Daily gmail refreshment just to check if there are mail, monthly wise it'll be only 10 emails to send or less
A few apps updates, the small ones
Prefer to turn on data for 7/24
The rest of it I wish to put it on android online game

I'm currently using digi rm30 for 600mb but I wasted it for this month since I was looking for a decent android online game so I reached my quota extremely early by testing tons of them.

I don't mind switching to other telsco provided if their plan gives better data usage : price ratio.

Thanks!

TM HSBB Expansion To Slowdown & Halt, After Phase 1 (Ended Dec 2012)

$

Sorry not to disappoint anyone here but expansion of TM Unifi now is very unlikely to take place any more unless you plan to move into some new high end housing development that made a pact with TM for the private partnership program. Most of these housing developers who made the private partnership program for HSBB are selling homes which will never be afforded by the middle class or lower.

As soon as Phase 1 of the HSBB ended on December 2012, the BN government had stopped giving subsidy grants to TM therefore it is expected that fibre expansion works will slow down considerably or come to an eventual halt.

Moody's Research comments:

QUOTE
As a result of the high dividend policy and commitment to return excess cash to shareholders, cash flow metrics will continue to remain inconsistent with the current A3 rating. Furthermore, further HSBB investments will be made by TMB without any government grant, and which will further pressure its cash flow metrics.

Those who live in cities such as Georgetown, Ipoh, Malacca, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, I do feel sorry for you all.

So much for the slogan lies that lauds:

Tiada Terpinggir, Tiada Tertinggal

Till now 1.4 million(1.377million ending 2012) out of 29 million* only subscribed to the HSBB project.
What does that translate to? Around only 4.8% benefited from it?

So is 95.2% Tertinggal?

1) Tellabs braces for FTTP(GPON) sales drop-off
QUOTE
Tellabs reported a 13% year-over-year revenue decline in the fourth quarter but warned of a greater drop to come, predicting first-quarter revenue to be down 19% to 26% from a year earlier, to between $345 million and $375 million.

The biggest single driver of that revenue drop is an anticipated decline in sales of optical network terminals (ONTs), the customer premises gear in fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks, Tellabs said. Last April, the vendor opted to walk away from a contract to supply its biggest customer, Verizon Communications, with the next generation of FTTP gear: GPON. And six months later, Tellabs announced it was shifting development away from access equipment such as ONTs, whose thin, and sometimes non-existent, margins have long been a problem for Tellabs.

http://connectedplanetonline.com/residenti...ales-drop-0127/

2) Experts say GPON has limited prospects in Russia due to high costs.
QUOTE
Among the disadvantages of GPON technology, J'son & Partners Consulting named the high cost of the equipment, the need to build the entire network at once, and the relatively long payback period.

"We believe that a switch to GPON technology is unlikely to be widespread due to the high cost of the technology.

Hi guys, I got a call from Astro IPTV yesterday claiming that I can now sign up for Astro IPTV with Maxis Broadband.

The sales agent tell me that if I sign up now, I can get an early bird offer of RM100 voucher drool.gif . He also say that there will be 10 additional and exclusive HD channel if I take up this IPTV with Maxis. rclxm9.gif
The agent told me they are offering 10Mbps for RM148 and if I continue with my Astro Super Pack 3, I get a further RM25 discount. A personal video recording box will also be given to me to record Astro programs.
