testing of home data points,

Hi

I just received keys for my new house..the developer has provided 4 data (network) points..1 in store room.. 2 in living room n 1 in 1st floor hall. There is also 1 telephone port for unifi in store room..

My question is how do i test the data (network) points? I did a small test by plugging a switch to data point in store room and my notebook in data points outside the store room..my notebook network showed as disconnected/unplugged for all the data points
