Hi guys,
I wish to share my experience with Dlink DGS-1016D switch with you so that new buyers have some knowledge before buying them.
The DGS-1016D 16 port gigabit switch, I purchased on first week of Oct 2012, failed to start on 4th Jan 2013. I placed a report with Dlink SG (Case ID : DCX414181) on the same day and took it back to Aoneplus Digital Mall SS19 for warranty on 5 Jan. I was informed that since there may not be much returns to Dlink, there may be a delay of 2 weeks before Aoneplus actually sends the switch to Dlink service centre in Puchong.
While this may be a problem for Dlink, as a customer, I find one month or more, waiting time ridiculous. They did not agree for a one to one replacement as the unit had to be replacement under its RMA policy.
Just 2 days ago, they told me that despite the unit being replaced with a new PSU, it still did not work and it had to be sent to Dlink Singapore and it could take another 2 weeks for me to collect the replacement unit. This means, it could take about 1 month and 3 weeks for a product to be tested and replaced.
In summary, these are my findings :
(1) for about 3 months after purchase, the new DGS-1016 switch failed. Perhaps, the product may be of poor quality components/product or I just may have bad luck with Dlink.
2) Customers interested in getting PC accessories, should buy them from stores that carries out high volume sales. Don't buy from stores located in remote areas.
3) Check out the OEM's after sales service practice before buying them
4) Customer should reconsider buying Dlink products
Does anyone else want to share their Dlink experience?
