How to maximize the throughput of an ADSL line ?, Need help !
To all Gurus,
Got some experiment going this morning on the 4Mbps ADSL line from Streamyx
First, I measure the max DL speed, by dl GB-size files from http://oss.mmu.edu.my/pub/ubuntu-releases/13.04/
I got about 450KBps DL, not bad
The second stage of experiment:
While the DL was still going on, I tambah an UL (a little 5 MB file) to my remote server
Suddenly the 450KBps DL speed tanked, to less than 100KBps speed !
And the UL speed was hovering in between 36 to 45 KBps
Why that much effect on the DL portion of the pipe when a little UL was commencing ?
I stopped all the UL and DL, then powered up a utility "Traffic shaper XP" ( from http://bandwidthcontroller.com/trafficShaperXp.html )
Restarted the DL and the UL, and while both were going on, I tuned the "queue size" for both the UL and the DL, as well as the "speed limit"
After some observation, I set the "queue size" for UL to 23, and for DL, I put it to the max, to 100
I also prioritize the "acknowledgement packets" for both UL and DL, and put the rule "1" to DL, while for UL, I put it on the last place "9"
But no matter what I do, I can't seem to find a way to maximize the ADSL line's throughput
The best I can get is about an average of 44.8KBps UL speed and an average 280KBps DL speed
Is there any other measure, and/or any other utility that I can adapt to increase the ADSL line throughput ?

How to push TM to install telephone poles, at new housing area
I've just shifted to new housing area one month ago. The thing is, there is no telephone poles available yet & thus I can't transfer my streamyx account from old house to new house. Talked with developer, they asked me to tell TM. Went to TM & they asked me to tell the developer.
Some of my friends told me that they had to wait even up to 2 years then only TM will install the proper infrastructure. I believe this is BULLSHIT!![mad.gif]()
Both parties don't want to bear the cost to install the inftrastructure since this is new housing area with not many families moved into.
But I don't care as telephone is one of the basic necessities for a house, other than water & electricity right?
So how effectively I can push TM to quickly install the poles as I want to use my Streamyx ASAP? Otherwise I have to pay for something I can't use & I don't want to terminate my account.

hi everyone, my unifi has been working fine so far, youtube and other video streaming etc no prob..but i have had a problem streaming videos hosted by facebook.. anyone having the same problem as me? or any sifu out there can help guide?

Unify service down every night, Unify
Hi, my unify service is down almost every night at 7-8pm until the next morning. Called them many times to raise many tickets but still the same issue.
What should i do, should i change modems/routers?
or should i change to another service provider like YES, is it even worth it?

the old innacomm v3100, problem is ping not stable, few good then few bad. ADSL Diagnostics failed !!![sweat.gif]()
unable to completed any file download or email attachment. called tm, claim line ok no problem, suggest to replace the modem. now the funny part, if the adsl set to Glite, easy to get connected but the problem remain the same. ![rclxub.gif]()

I surrender to DIGI, Once contact ends I definitely terminate
Here's the story, i've been using Digi ever since I was like from 4 almost 6-7 years.
Subscribe to one of its plan 1 and the half years ago (2 years contract)
During that time, the plan subscribe does not provide discount for phone but instead cheaper data plan.
And recently i plan to terminate the contact as the data plan is way too slow, and so I called customer service for inquiry and he told me the formula is calculated as of below
Premature termination fee (Formula)
Formula (24 month contract): (RRP – DiGi Selling Price)/24 X Remaining Months in Contract + (RM100) = Z

My buying phone price that time from Digi was RM2099, and the RRP of samsung galaxy nexus is way below the price.
So I assumed I only need to pay RM100 for termination and I called customer service to confirmed.
The second time I asked the customer care, he told me " Sorry sir, your termination for your current contract is RM400 flat rate.
I was like WTF. I swear once I reach the contract due date, I will definitely terminate it. No even a day! haha

Anime torrent site cannot download, nyaa.eu website cannot download torrent
from penang and using unifi. anybody have any issues downloading torrent from
nyaa.eu? basically it is a anime torrent website. i can't download any of their torrent for 2 weeks now so i thought if any of u from malaysia having this problem?

Ethernet Wiring Contractor for Home, anyone can recommend a good one
I am in a process of doing a major renovation for my house (double storey link).
Have a good contractor already.
One of the things that I always want to address once-and-for-all is the home network wiring.
Previously in my old home I make do with wireless network, range extender, etc.
But now since I'm embarking on a major renovation, I'm thinking maybe will be a good idea to wire the house up with proper cat6 or cat5e cable. The problem is my contractor has zero idea on how to do this![laugh.gif]()
(he doesn't even know the different type of cable, so ... )
So could anyone recommend a good contractor?
I could probably ask my office IT to recommend someone, but I think they normally do office network, not sure if they will want to be hassled with a double storey link house![sweat.gif]()

LATEST: TM throttling YouTube again., Speeds never go beyond 40KB/sec.
I'm on 124 IP range now, been stuck on that IP for some time already.
Since the day before yesterday I noticed that my YouTube has been jerky,
and I found this.

Peak speed is only 41KB/sec, and the graph, as you can see kept constant around that speed.
I'm on 1Mbps streamyx.
Can others confirm this issue?
edit : The video behind the monitor app is running on 360p., normally videos will run smoothly on 360p, occasionally on 480p. as well.
